The American Composers Forum and the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers have issued a call for scores for voices and instruments. Up to five emerging composers from Minnesota and the five boroughs of New York City will be chosen to have works-in-progress performed at the ninth annual Essentially Choral reading session, to take place February 17 to 19, 2011 in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. Works at the February reading will be performed by VocalEssence, a 32-voice Minneapolis-based professional chorus directed by Philip Brunelle. The American Composers Forum supports composers and develops new markets for their music through granting, commissioning, and performance programs and links communities with composers and performers. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, October 22, 2010. Complete guidelines and application materials can be found here.
