In Sunday’s (7/18) Kansas City Star, Ann Spivak writes about the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance’s new concert series, formed under the leadership of Peter Witte, which collaborates with the Friends of Chamber Music, the Kansas City Symphony and the Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company. “The new Conservatory Artist Series (formerly known as Signature Series) will present six concerts in the 2010–2011 season, three of which are the result of the partnership with the Friends of Chamber Music called the Music Alliance.…Cynthia Siebert, executive director of the Friends of Chamber Music, said the collaboration will allow the group to expand its audience and do more community outreach.… Students will interact with the artists as much as possible, she said. … ‘And they won’t just be talking music,’ Siebert said. ‘It’s not enough these days just to be a great artist. We want these students to learn about the industry and the stamina it involves and the business of music. We want to arm them with what the need so they can go out in the world prepared.’”
