The Oklahoma City Philharmonic has appointed MATTHEW THOMAS TROY education conductor for its Discovery Family Series and Youth Educational Concert Series. He recently completed his second season as assistant conductor of the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Symphony, where he is also education director and music director of orchestra’s Youth Symphony. Troy has served as conductor of North Carolina’s Fibonacci Chamber Orchestra, Wake Forest University Orchestra, and Salisbury Youth Orchestra, and as assistant conductor of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG) Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the violin/viola faculty at the Music Academy of North Carolina and a frequent conductor/clinician for high school music programs in North Carolina. Troy holds a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from UNCG, and pursued further conducting studies at the Pierre Monteux School and the Conductors Retreat at Medomak, both in Maine.
