The Cleveland Orchestra has announced that tickets for its August 11 and 12 performances of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8 at Severance Hall will be offered free of charge. WVIZ/PBS ideastream® is recording the performances for a DVD and television broadcast, representing the fourth DVD in the orchestra’s performances of Bruckner symphonies in historic venues. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst will lead the orchestra in the 1887 revised version of the symphony, edited by Leopold Nowak. Over the next twelve months, the orchestra will give seventeen performances of Bruckner works in Ohio, New York City, Scotland, Switzerland, and Japan. Cleveland’s performance of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, previously recorded, will air on PBS during summer and fall of 2010.
