In Thursday’s (8/12) Pasadena Star-News (California), Larry Wilson and Brian Charles report, “Rachael Worby, for a decade the music director of the Pasadena Pops, announced Wednesday she is leaving the post at the end of her orchestra’s current season. In an e-mail, Worby wrote: ‘I wanted to send this e-mail to you personally to let you know that after 10 wonderful years as music director of the Pasadena Pops, this will be my last season. I thank you for your extraordinary support and I promise to keep you posted about my future!’ Worby recently announced a series of children’s concerts she will be conducting next year at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica. Pasadena Symphony and Pops officials released a statement Wednesday but declined an interview request. The statement thanked Worby for her years of service to the organization. … Worby said that she will still be on the podium at the orchestra’s new outdoor venue south of the Rose Bowl for a program dubbed ‘All That Jazz’ this Saturday evening and again on Sept. 25 for a program called ‘Hooray for Hollywood.’ ”
