Naxos and Warner Classics have announced a partnership through which Naxos will become the U.S. distributor of Warner Classics audio recordings. Under the arrangement, beginning on September 1 Naxos will offer more than 2,000 classical titles, including Warner Classics as well as those on the Warner-owned labels Teldec, Das Alte Werk, and Erato. In a statement, John Kelleher, head of Warner Classics & Jazz, said that the arrangement would allow it to “broaden the range of specialist titles” it offers in the U.S. and to “re-focus our efforts on growing our digital business in the region, as well as bolstering our A&R activities.” Among the current artists working with Warner Classics are English violinist Charlie Siem, composer/pianist Joanna MacGregor, and New York-based, Uruguayan-born conductor José Serebrier. Existing Warner Classics’ recordings feature artists including tenor Plácido Domingo, conductors Daniel Barenboim, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Ton Koopman, and William Christie; and the early-music groups Chanticleer and Boston Camerata.
