In Tuesday’s (8/24) Idaho State Journal (Pocatello), John O’Connell writes, “It certainly wasn’t the usual performance for the members of the Idaho State Civic Symphony — playing in 90-degree heat with dust and debris flying. Conductor Chung Park said some of his musicians played from flat-bed trucks, and others set up on top of pieces of plywood during a performance hosted in conjunction with the reality television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Park had to keep the secret for two weeks  after learning from the network program that the family of one of his musicians, a stand-out cello player named Sophie, had been chosen by the show to receive a new home. Then, he had only 24 hours to make all of the necessary arrangements and field the necessary musicians. … Park said Sophie will be a freshman in college studying music at Utah State University. He believes she’s got what it takes to succeed in music.”
