A report in Wednesday’s (9/1) Bismarck Tribune (North Dakota) states, “After a three-month search the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra has selected violinist Everaldo Martinez of Lubbock, Texas, as the new concertmaster. Jeffrey Collier, executive director of the orchestra, said Martinez, in addition to duties as concertmaster, will take over as the conductor of the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Youth Orchestra beginning this month. Originally from Honduras, Martinez has performed with orchestras throughout the United States and Central America. Currently a doctoral candidate at Texas Tech University, he has performed with orchestras in Baton Rouge, La., Jackson, Miss., Biloxi, Miss., Mobile, Ala., Roswell, N.M., and Midland-Odessa, Texas. He also served as section violinist or concertmaster with opera orchestras in New Orleans and Abilene, Texas. While in Texas, he performed extensively with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, serving as first violinist of its resident string quartet and as a coach and leader for the Lubbock Youth Orchestra. … Martinez also will join the music departments at University of Mary and Bismarck State College as adjunct faculty and will teach private violin lessons.”
