In Saturday’s (9/4) Commercial Appeal (Memphis, Tennessee), Jon W. Sparks reports, “The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, poised to start a new season with a new music director, is bringing on an executive in the newly created position of vice president of patron services. Nicki Inman comes here from a similar position with the Syracuse (N.Y.) Symphony Orchestra where she worked for 10 years. ‘She will be responsible for how we interact with our patrons in every way,’ said Ryan Fleur, Memphis Symphony president and CEO, on Friday. … As vice president of patron development at the Syracuse organization, she was instrumental in building a team that combined marketing and development. … Getting funding and support for symphony orchestras has been especially challenging in recent years with the poor economy. Last year, the symphony eliminated five administrative positions to compensate for drops in ticket sales, giving and an endowment hurt by the stock market. Inman begins her new duties on Oct. 18.”
