The Stamford Symphony in Connecticut has announced details of its 2010 instrumental scholarship competition for high school seniors, which offers a first prize of $10,000 and a second prize of $7,000. The deadline for applications for the competition is December 1. The competition is open to instrumentalists who are high school seniors during the 2010-11 school year and reside in or attend high school in Connecticut; applicants must intend to pursue a music degree at an accredited university or conservatory. In addition to receiving a monetary prize, scholarship recipients are also recognized at the Stamford Symphony’s January Saturday Orchestra Classics concert and are invited to participate in local performances, including at the annual meeting of the Stamford Symphony Society.
