Maine’s Portland Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of LISA DIXON as executive director. Since 2008 she has held the post of chief operating officer at the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and was previously the MSO’s director of operations and community engagement. Dixon is a 2006 alumna of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, where she spent a year of in-field training at the Boston, Memphis, and North Carolina symphony orchestras and at Aspen Music Festival and School. She holds bachelor’s degrees in clarinet performance and music education from the Eastman School of Music, and was a portgraduate mentor with Eastman’s Arts Leadership Program.
