Soprano NANCY GUSTAFSON has been appointed general manager of the Castleton Festival in Rappahannock County, Virginia. A professional opera singer for more than three decades and an experienced educator, she has been the primary voice coach for the Castleton Residency program administered by The Châteauville Foundation. Gustafson is a founding member of the foundation’s board of directors, which also includes Castleton Festival founders Lorin Maazel and his wife Dietlinde Turban Maazel. For the past 21 years Gustafson has also organized benefit concerts for the Over the Rainbow Association in her hometown of Evanston, Illinois. As Castleton’s general manager she will continue to coordinate the Châteauville Foundation’s auxiliary Castleton Artists Training Seminar (CATS), which serves young singers destined for operatic careers. In 2011 CATS will almost double, from 17 to 30 participants.
