Naxos, the Nashville-based classical-music recordings distributor and multimedia company, has named Andy Doe as its chief operating officer, effective December 1. Doe, who will work out of Naxos’s U.K. offices, will have special responsibility for the group’s online platforms and nontraditional business. Doe comes to Naxos from Apple’s iTunes division, where for six years he was in charge of classical music, expanding classical selections to include most commercially available recordings. Prior to working at Apple, Doe, a native of the U.K., worked at Universal Classics & Jazz, Classical.com, and the Contemporary Music Centre in Ireland. “Andy has the necessary experience in an area where I see the future of our industry and our group of companies. And he brings youth and fresh ideas to our group even though, by industry standards, with my exception, we have a pretty young team,” said Naxos Founder and Chairman Klaus Heymann.
