The New York office of Boosey & Hawkes has announced the appointment of ERIC M. GEWIRTZ as director, media and public relations, and the promotion of STEVEN LANKENAU to director, promotion. Gewirtz succeeds SARAH BAIRD KNIGHT, who has joined New York-based Dotdotdotmusic as a new-music publicist. Gewirtz goes to Boosey & Hawkes after more than five years at the New York Philharmonic, where he served most recently as assistant director, public relations, media and touring. He was previously with the Arts & Communications Counselors Department of the public-relations firm Ruder Finn. A percussionist, Gewirtz holds degrees in music performance and journalism/strategic media from Arizona State University. Lankenau first joined Boosey & Hawkes in February 2010 as associate director, promotion, specializing in opera, dance, and orchestral repertoire. Before working in the music publishing field Lankenau served as manager of community programming, and subsequently as director of programming, at the Brooklyn Philharmonic. From 2003 to 2006 he worked in the Programming Department at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. He holds a master’s degree in music composition from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he also taught music theory and history.
