Administrative: Cleveland Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the appointment of CRISTINA ROCCA as director of artistic planning, effective January 3, 2011. She goes to Cleveland from France’s Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, where she has served as artistic manager since April 2006. Previous posts include head of concerts and programming for England’s Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, head of artistic programming at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and assistant to Music Director Myung-Whun Chung at the Paris Opera. She is a native of Bologna, Italy, where she received a diploma in operatic and choral music from the Teatro Comunale and a liberal arts degree with a major in music from the University of Bologna. Rocca also holds a diploma in liberal arts administration from the Musical Research Experimental Centre in Florence, Italy.
