In Tuesday’s (11/9) Cincinnati Enquirer, Janelle Gelfand reports, “The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra has a distributor for recordings on its new label, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Media. Naxos of America will manufacture and distribute the recordings, the orchestra announced Monday. Naxos is an internationally respected label with a global network. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s in-house label, CSO Resound, also distributes through Naxos. … The Cincinnati Symphony and Pops orchestras sold about 10 million recordings worldwide on the Telarc label between 1980 and 2009, when Telarc announced it would no longer produce orchestra recordings. Telarc continues to manufacture and distribute its extensive catalog of more than 140 Cincinnati recordings, including three Grammy winners. The Cincinnati Symphony’s inaugural release, ‘American Portraits,’ will be available at CSO concerts and at the Music Hall box office starting Friday. On Jan. 25, Naxos will distribute the CD throughout North America and make it available on popular digital download sites.”
