In Thursday’s (11/11) Post and Courier (Charleston, South Carolina), Adam Parker writes, “A memorial service at the Dock Street Theatre for Charleston Symphony Orchestra Music Director David Stahl and his wife Karen Doss Stahl is expected to draw a large audience Saturday. The 11 a.m. service will be projected live onto a screen set up at the French Protestant (Huguenot) Church across the street, opened to accommodate any spillover crowd. Saturday’s service will be streamed live at postandcourier.com. … The memorial service originally was meant for Karen Stahl and was planned in cooperation with David Stahl, who had hoped to attend between chemotherapy treatments. But his aggressive lymphoma made that impossible. The Stahls died about one month apart, Karen at age 53 on Sept. 21, David at 60 on Oct. 23. … The program will include musical performances by symphony players; remarks by Mayor Joe Riley, colleagues and family members; a eulogy by the Rev. Edward Carney of Riverland Hills Baptist Church; and a benediction by Anthony Holz, rabbi emeritus of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League announced last week the establishment of the David and Karen Stahl Memorial Music Scholarship Fund.”
