JENNIFER J. BARBEE has been named director of development at the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. She worked most recently at the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, where she joined the staff in 2002 and was promoted to director of development in 2004. Previous experience includes an arts management internship with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as posts with the Virginia Arts Festival, Time-Life Inc., and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery. Barbee is a recent graduate of the League of American Orchestras’ Executive Leadership Program 2 for marketing and development professionals. Trained as a bassoonist, she received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and pursued graduate studies at the University of Colorado before entering the field of arts management.
