The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of JOSHUA HABERMANN as director of its official vocal ensemble, the Dallas Symphony Chorus, effective in summer 2011. Habermann is currently music director of the Miami-based Masterchorale of South Florida and of New Mexico’s Santa Fe Desert Chorale; serves as associate professor and program director of choral studies at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music; and conducts the university’s Frost Chorale and other choral ensembles. A native of California, he is a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin, where he completed doctoral studies in conducting with Craig Hella Johnson. Habermann furthered his training under Helmuth Rilling (conducting), Scott Fogelsong (piano), and David Jones (voice).
