President Barack Obama recently announced his intent to nominate Aaron Dworkin, founder and president of the Sphinx Organization, to the National Council on the Arts. “I am confident that these talented individuals will greatly serve this Administration and the American people,” Obama said. “I look forward to working with them in the coming months and years.” In addition to his work with Sphinx, a Detroit-based organization committed to youth development and diversity in classical music, Dworkin, a 2005 MacArthur Fellow, serves on the Board of Directors of the League of American Orchestras, Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, Association of Performing Arts Presenters, Artserve Michigan, and WRCJ 90.9 Detroit Classical and Jazz Radio.
