The Harlem School of the Arts in New York City has appointed YVETTE L. CAMPBELL executive director. She goes to HSA from the Ailey Extension, where she served as director for more than five years. Campbell studied dance at the Ailey School in New York and performed with Ailey II, Shapiro & Smith, and Eleo Pomare. During a period of recovery from a dance injury she worked as interim school administrator for the Ailey School, and subsequently resumed her performance career as a principal dancer with Elisa Monte Dance and as guest artist in such venues as the Barbican in London and New York’s Lincoln Center. Campbell graduated from the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in applied mathematics and dramatic art/dance.
