The New York Philharmonic has promoted KATHERINE E. JOHNSON to director, public and media relations, and KATHERINE (KATIE) KLENN to assistant director, tour and media relations. Johnson joined the Philharmonic staff in January 2008 following posts in public relations at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Shuman Associates. Klenn came to the Philharmonic in March 2008 after serving as public relations coordinator for the League of American Orchestras. Also announced by the Philharmonic was the appointment of AMANDA CONTE as communications assistant. Conte worked most recently at Widmeyer Communications, a public relations firm serving such clients as Carnegie Corporation of New York and Channel Thirteen. She held public relations internships at Lincoln Center and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and has also worked as a community reporter for The New York Times. Conte is an alumna of New Jersey’s Seton Hall University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism/public relations with a minor in vocal performance.
