The Rockford Symphony Orchestra in Illinois announced that it is expanding its Share-A-Seat program through which tickets are distributed free to members of the community receiving assistance from local service organizations. Tickets are available from a pool donated by the public; for $15, a company or individual can donate tickets to the Share-A-Seat program, which is tax-deductible to the donor. Since the program was introduced during the RSO’s 2009-10 season, more than 125 seats have been donated to clients of organizations including Rosecrance (a substance-abuse treatment center), the Janet Wattles Center, and the Center for Sight and Hearing. The RSO will seek additional service organizations whose clients would benefit from attending an orchestra concert, as well as additional supporters to donate the $15 tickets.
