Colorado’s Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and the New York Philharmonic announced a three-year extension of the orchestra’s annual Vail summer residency, covering the years 2012 through 2014. This summer the Philharmonic returns for its ninth annual summer residency from July 22 to 29, when Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the orchestra in works of Dvořák, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Borodin, Ravel, and Gershwin. A complete schedule of Vail performances for 2011 will be announced in January. The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival will celebrate its 24th season in 2011, under the artistic direction of pianist Anne-Marie McDermott. In addition to hosting the Philharmonic, Bravo! Vail this summer will also feature the Philadelphia and Dallas Symphony orchestras, which like the Philharmonic will each perform six concerts at festival’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater.
