In Saturday’s (1/1) Arizona Republic (Phoenix), Weldon B. Johnson writes, “Those who attend the Chandler Symphony Orchestra’s chamber-music concert Jan. 8, will have a chance to do something unusual at a classical music concert. They’ll get a chance to meet the composers. The 2 p.m. concert, in the Hal Bogle Theater at the Chandler Center for the Arts, highlights Arizona composers. It is free, but donations are accepted. The concert features the music of five composers living in the state: Sy Brandon, Frank Darmiento, David Dolatowski, Bruce Legge and Judith Lang Zaimont. All five composers will be at the concert to share comments about their work. … The concert is part of the orchestra’s chamber-music series. The series is designed to present music not ordinarily heard in a symphony orchestra concert. … Other chamber-music concerts are scheduled for Feb. 19 (Conductor’s Choice Concert) and April 16 (Musical Humor Concert).”
