The Abreu Fellows Program, based at New England Conservatory in Boston, is now accepting applications for the 2011-12 academic year. The two-semester postgraduate professional program, launched in 2008, provides ten fellows with in-depth knowledge and musical methodology of El Sistema, the Venezuelan social-action program with music performance as its centerpiece. The tuition-free program includes a two-month period of applied study in Venezuela, followed by a three-week guided internship at an El Sistema-inspired program in the U.S. The application deadline is February 14, 2011. More information on the Abreu Fellows Program and application materials can be found at: http://www.necmusic.edu/abreu-fellows-apply.
