California’s Santa Rosa Symphony has announced the appointment of BENJAMIN TAYLOR as director of education, effective March 1. He was previously the orchestra’s youth ensembles manager, in which capacity he spent seven years managing the SRS’s four youth orchestras, its Summer Music Academy, and other training programs. He is also a composer whose works have been heard in concert halls, churches and rock clubs, on radio and television, and in performances by such ensembles as the Cleveland Chamber Symphony, San Francisco Choral Artists, Princeton Singers, and the Wild Harrys. Taylor was born in Kyoto, Japan, but spent most of his formative years in Santa Rosa. He has served as composer-in-residence for the Sonoma County (Cal.) Chamber Singers and as music director of the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation of Santa Rosa and the Albany (Cal.) Community Chorus.
