Wednesday (3/23) on the Wall Street Journal blog Metropolis, Erica Orden writes, “A passionate fan of classical music, actor Alec Baldwin has lent his familiar baritone to the New York Philharmonic as the host of its weekly radio program since September 2009. Now the ‘30 Rock’ star’s voice will be heard in the orchestra’s boardroom too: Baldwin has been elected to the company’s board of directors, the Philharmonic announced Wednesday. Joining Baldwin as newly elected trustees are real-estate executives Larry Silverstein, president and chief executive of Silverstein Properties, and Lawrence Ackman, chairman of Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group, as well as Antonio Quintella, chief executive of Credit Suisse’s Americas region. The expansion of its board comes as the Philharmonic completes a successful fundraising campaign, as The Journal reported last month. But for Mr. Baldwin, the trusteeship may put him one step closer to achieving a personal goal he once described in a New York magazine interview: ‘Living the way I live now, being who I am now, what would be the next thing for me?’ he told the magazine. ‘To marry a woman in the orchestra. A woman who could play the piano for me every night. That would be heaven.’ ”
