South Carolina’s Greenville Symphony Association has announced the retirement of KEN JOHNSON as executive director, effective at the end of the 2010-11 season in May. Prior to assuming leadership of the Greenville Symphony, Johnson served as a consultant for such nonprofit concerns as Habitat for Humanity, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the Unitarian Seminary in Berkeley, California. He had earlier enjoyed a lengthy career with IBM and its spinoff company Lexmark, from which he retired in 2000. The orchestra has formed a search committee to identify Johnson’s successor, and expects to have a new executive director in place for its 64th season, 2011-12.
