The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City has announced the appointment of LIMOR TOMER as general manager of concerts and lectures, effective May 2. She succeeds HILDE LIMONDJIAN, who served in that post from 1969 until last year. Tomer will head the museum’s Concerts & Lectures series, which is now in its 57th season and presents more than 200 events to the public annually. Since 2006 Tomer has been executive director for music at New York City’s Classical 105.9 FM WQXR, and for the past six years has also served as adjunct curator for performing arts at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art. She has more than twenty years of experience as a producer, programmer, administrator, and musician. A native of Israel who came to the U.S. at age thirteen, Tomer holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School and pursued doctoral studies in aesthetics at New York University. For ten years she enjoyed a career as a classical pianist, performing as recitalist and orchestral soloist throughout the U.S. and Europe.
