Brevard Music Center, a festival and training institute in western North Carolina, has announced the appointment of JOANN FALLETTA as principal guest conductor. In this capacity she will conduct at least two programs in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons. Falletta is music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic, where her contract was recently extended through the 2015-16 season, and of the Norfolk-based Virginia Symphony Orchestra, which performs regularly in several southeastern Virginia venues. She has guest conducted many of the leading professional and conservatory orchestras in the U.S. and Europe, and has mentored young musicians and conductors through programs administered by the League of American Orchestras.
