STILIAN KIROV, now completing his first year as assistant conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, has been promoted to associate conductor, and his contract extended through the 2012-13 season. In his new role he will take on additional conducting duties with the MSO while continuing to serve as music director of its Memphis Youth Symphony Program. As announced in the March 18 edition of Who’s In, Kirov will also fulfill a four-week residency at the Seattle Symphony next season as a conducting fellow, an appointment made by that orchestra’s music director designate, Ludovic Morlot.
