JONATHAN HUMMEL has been named to the newly created post of executive director at Philadelphia Sinfonia Youth Orchestra, effective April 25, 2011. He goes to the orchestra from The Philadelphia Orchestra, where he has served as manager of communications and community partnerships since June 2009. He had previously spent two years as The Philadelphia Orchestra’s electronic media coordinator, and has worked as executive assistant at the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes in Corning, N.Y. Hummel holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, where he also pursued elective studies in business. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in arts administration at Philadelphia’s Drexel University.
