In Wednesday’s (4/6) Daily Telegram (Adrian, Michigan), Arlene Bachanov writes, “For the last several years, the Adrian Symphony Orchestra has taken part in ‘Orchestras Feeding America,’ a food drive carried out across the country by members of the League of American Orchestras. As this year’s drive wraps up, ASO board member and immediate past chairman Curtis Beagle, who coordinated the effort, is encouraged by the level of participation across Lenawee County. In particular, Beagle credits two people, former ASO board chairwoman Brenda Knapp and Lenawee Intermediate School District Community Relations Coordinator Ann Knisel, with spearheading efforts in Blissfield and in several county schools, respectively. … At last count, according to Beagle, more than 1,000 pounds of food had been collected just from these schools. … The drive wraps up this week as far as the drop boxes are concerned, but ASO concert-goers can still bring food items to the orchestra’s April 16 concert. Additionally, monetary donations can be made to the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. Beagle said that doing so by the end of this week will allow the ASO to announce all the results of the drive at the concert, but financial contributions will be accepted though April 30. All monies raised to that point will be partially matched by the Feinstein Foundation.”
