As part of its 50th-anniversary celebrations, North Carolina’s Eastern Music Festival has commissioned world premieres from five composers for this summer’s festival, to be performed throughout July by the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra, led by Music Director Gerard Schwarz. The composers, who will each be in attendance for his or her premiere, are Pierre Jalbert, Peter Boyer, Michael Hersch, Philip Rothman, and Vivian Fung. The Eastern Music Festival and School http://www.Easternmusicfestival.org was founded in 1961 in Greensboro, North  Carolina by Sheldon Morgenstern; it accepts students from ages 14 to 22 for orchestra and piano studies.
