In Tuesday’s (4/12) Buffalo News (New York), Colin Dabkowski writes, “On Wednesday night in Kleinhans Music Hall, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and MusicalFare Theatre will join forces in a unique effort to raise funding for the arts. The $5 concert will feature the full orchestra performing classic musical theater pieces under the baton of Paul Ferington. It’s part of the ‘Give for Greatness’ campaign, a two-month fundraising effort launched by Artvoice publisher Jamie Moses in March to help fill in the funding gap for small and midsized arts groups left by recent Erie County budget cuts. … ‘This is really a close-knit arts community and one that’s very supportive of each other,’ said BPO Executive Director Dan Hart. … Money raised by the Give for Greatness campaign will be contributed to and distributed by the Fund for the Arts, a consortium of local foundations that so far has distributed $430,000 to 23 cultural organizations slashed from this year’s Erie County budget and 13 more that weren’t on the 2010 rolls in the first place.”
