The North Carolina Symphony, based in Raleigh, has announced the appointment of SANDI MACDONALD as president and CEO, effective June 2011. Macdonald currently serves as Miami Residency Director at the Cleveland Orchestra, where she is responsible for fundraising and board development, community engagement and education programs, and marketing and sales campaigns supporting the orchestra’s annual residency in Miami, Florida. Macdonald’s 20 years of experience in orchestra management include positions as director of marketing and public relations at the Cleveland Orchestra; senior director of strategic planning and audience development at the Seattle Symphony; and executive-level management positions with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Michigan Opera Theatre.
