Fox Valley Symphony Youth Orchestras (FVSYO) in Appleton, Wis., has appointed DAVID E. BECKER interim conductor to succeed the retiring GARY WOLFMAN. Since 2005 Becker has served as director of orchestral studies and conductor of the symphony and opera orchestras at Wisconsin’s Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. For more than twenty years prior to that he was director of orchestras and professor of the graduate orchestral conducting program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has led orchestral clinics and all-state honors orchestras in 40 states, and has been invited to conduct The National Association for Music Education’s MENC All-National Honors Orchestra in Washington, D.C., in June 2012. Also announced by FVSYO were the appointments of GREG AUSTIN as conductor of the new Concert Orchestra. CARRIE LANE GRUSELLE and KRISTINA STINGLE will each conduct the organization’s Philharmonia for one semester.
