CHRISTOPHER WILKINS, music director of the Orlando (Fla.) Philharmonic Orchestra and the Akron (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, has been named to an additional post as music director of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, an organization that provides free summer concerts at Boston’s Hatch Shell and other community venues. He succeeds the late CHARLES ANSBACHER, who founded the orchestra and led it until his death in 2010. Wilkins has served as music director of the San Antonio and Colorado Springs symphony orchestras; as associate conductor of the Utah Symphony, assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra, and conducting assistant at the Oregon Symphony; and as resident conductor of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas. A native of the Boston area, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and a master’s degree from Yale University, where he studied conducting with Otto-Werner Mueller. He furthered his training as a conducting fellow at Berkshire Music Center, now known as Tanglewood Music Center.
