MATT CATINGUB has been named artistic director and conductor of the Glendale Pops Orchestra, a newly launched venture in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, California. The GPO will debut May 13 with a concert in Glendale’s historic Alex Theatre. All proceeds from that event will support Glendale Arts, a not-for-profit organization charged with managing the Alex Theatre, the GPO, and the coordination of resources for local artists and arts organizations. Catingub goes to the orchestra after many years of conducting the Honolulu Symphony Pops and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Pops. He has appeared as a regular guest conductor with numerous other orchestras as well, including the Nashville, Cincinnati, and Saint Louis symphonies.
