Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) German Public Radio has announced the appointment of Estonian-American conductor KRISTJAN JÄRVI as music director of the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, effective with the 2012-13 season. Järvi is the founding conductor of New York’s Absolute Ensemble, and has guest conducted such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Paris, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Japan’s NHK Symphony Orchestra, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Dresdner Philharmonie, and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.
