Zachary Lewis reports Friday (5/6) in The Plain Dealer (Cleveland) that Bruce Coppock, former president and managing director of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, will succeed Sandi Macdonald as managing director of The Cleveland Orchestra’s Miami residency. “Coppock’s new duties begin June 27, several months before the orchestra and principal guest conductor Giancarlo Guerrero begin the next edition of their annual three-week residency at Miami’s Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Coppock, formerly a professional cellist, comes to the orchestra with strong administrative credentials. In addition to leading the SPCO to new heights, he has been executive director of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and deputy director of Carnegie Hall. … Coppock stepped down from Saint Paul in 2008 following a cancer diagnosis. But in a recent statement, he said he’s feeling ‘renewed health and vigor’ going into his new job.”
