Chicago’s Grant Park Music Festival has announced that CARLOS KALMAR, who celebrated his tenth anniversary as GPMF’s principal conductor last season, will assume the new title of principal conductor and artistic director at the start of festival’s 77th season this June. The addition of artistic director to his title solidifies Kalmar’s role in the artistic leadership of the festival, reflecting his responsibility for shaping the creative aspect of each season as well as a long-term commitment on both his and festival’s part. Kalmar is also music director of the Portland-based Oregon Symphony.
