The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra has promoted ADAM CRANE to vice president for external affairs. Since joining the orchestra staff in August 2008 he had served as director of communications, and assumed the new post on May 16. He will continue to oversee the orchestra’s communications and public relations efforts. Within the newly created Department of External Affairs his responsibilities also now include the SLSO’s education programs, community engagement, and government relations, as well as the direction, planning, oversight, and evaluation of the institution’s activities and initiatives in these areas. Crane, a cellist and a native of St. Louis, served as co-host/commentator this season for the orchestra’s live Saturday night broadcasts on St. Louis Public Radio – 90.7 KWMU. He was recently named by St. Louis Business Journal as one of the “40 under 40” for 2010. Prior to beginning his tenure with the SLSO he was director of public relations for the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
