Pennsylvania’s Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra has announced that it will collaborate with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet for two performances of Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals this fall. The performances at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg on October 22 and 23—featuring choreography by Laszlo Berdo, a principal faculty member of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet—will be led by HSO Assistant Conductor Tara Simoncic, with narration by Cary Burkett of the Pennsylvania radio station WITF.  “The symphony is thrilled to partner with CPYB on the creation of this brand-new work,” said HSO Executive Director Jeff Woodruff in a statement. “Having worked with this wonderful company on their annual production of George Balanchine’s Nutcracker for many years, we can’t wait to see what Mr. Berdo does with Saint- Saëns’s amazing and endlessly clever score.”
