The Walla Walla Symphony in Washington State has announced the appointment of LEAH WILSON-VELASCO as chief executive officer, effective in August. She succeeds MICHAEL WENBERG, who stepped down from the post earlier this season in order to relocate to the Puget Sound area. Wilson-Velasco goes to Walla Walla from the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, where she has been serving as director of operations and education. Also a violist, she has played in both the Walla Walla Symphony and the Mid-Columbia Symphony (Richland, Wash.) as well the Whitman College String Quartet. A native of New Mexico, Wilson-Velasco graduated from Whitman in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in music.
