CARRIE HAMMOND has been named interim CEO of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut. She began her duties on May 31, filling in for KRISTEN PHILLIPS, who stepped down earlier in May to become a senior vice president with Lincoln Financial Group. Hammond brings to the HSO 25 years of business experience, much of it in management, marketing, and strategic planning at United Technologies, where she was manager of corporate responsibility from 2007 to 2010. She has also been active with the orchestra’s Association of Volunteers, and is a co-founder of Capitol Arts, an audience-development nonprofit dedicated to connecting young professionals to arts organizations in the Greater Hartford area. Hammond holds an MBA from Harvard University with concentrations in service management and social enterprise, and a bachelor’s from Wellesley College with majors in economics and music. The Hartford Symphony has begun a formal search for a permanent successor to Kristen Phillips as president and CEO.
