Chicago Chamber Musicians launches digital music archive

Posted on: June 6, 2011

The Chicago Chamber Musicians have launched EncoreCCM, a digital archive of CCM’s recorded music for the past 23 seasons. The free online database was launched today (6/6) and features streaming mp3 audio files of concerts dating back to the 1988-89 season. The archive has a multi-value search functionality that allows users to search by work, composer, instrumentation, or artist. In addition to streaming files at EncoreCCM, Chicago Chamber Musicians will also offer one free download each month at the CCM website. Project leaders Morgan Hubach and Katherine Erwin worked for two years with staff and volunteers to compile and convert audio files, many from digital audiotapes and cassettes, and upload them into the database. The project was supported by The Saints, the Artswork Fund for Organizational Development, and the James S. Kemper Foundation.
