On Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. (local time), the League will partner with NCM Fathom, TV Planet, and The Movie Machine to present DUDAMEL: Let the Children Play, an exclusive one-night event taking place in U.S. movie theaters nationwide.

This documentary film is a glimpse into the world of orchestras, conducting, and the importance of music as a hopeful path in addressing the educational crisis worldwide. Gustavo Dudamel, the gifted conductor behind the Venezuelan music-education program El Sistema, leads this journey through the stories of some of the young people who are experiencing the joy of music in the most diverse corners of the world. The film will be preceded by a PSA, generously sponsored and produced for the League by Fathom, that showcases America’s orchestras many roles, and signposts viewers to their local orchestra. The PSA will be available on the League website on June 9.
