DONATO CABRERA has been named to a four-year term as music director of Wisconsin’s Green Bay Symphony Orchestra, effective with the 2011-12 season. He will continue to serve as a staff conductor at the San Francisco Symphony, where he holds the Bruno Walter Resident Conductor Chair and serves as Wattis Foundation Music Director of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. From 2005 to 2008 Cabrera was associate conductor of the San Francisco Opera. He co-founded and served as music director of New York’s American Contemporary Music Ensemble, and has frequently conducted Young People’s Concerts at the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. A 2002 Herbert von Karajan conducting fellow at the Salzburg Festival in Austria, he has served as an assistant conductor at the Ravinia, Spoleto (Italy), and Aspen music festivals, as well as with Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California.
